Determining spring constants the accurate way
The structural engineer needed to design the raft foundations accounting for complex ground conditions, existing foundations and party walls. A simple estimate of subgrade reaction coefficient just would not do for the Barts Square development in cental London.
Advanced 3D FEA modelling took proper account of all these to provide accurate spring stiffness values.
