Lightly Does It
On the right track
The Chrisp Street mixed-use redevelopment in Poplar, London included a proposed basement adjacent to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in a shallow cutting. To gain planning approval it needed to be demonstrated that the DLR tracks would not suffer any significant movement due to construction of the basement.
A 3D FEA model of the proposed basement construction and adjacent DLR cutting and retaining walls demonstrated that the DLR tracks would not be adversely affected and planning approval was awarded.
