Monitoring the offshore environment from space

As part of the oil and gas exploration permits, certain environmental baseline parameters were needed to support ExxonMobil's permit applications for deep offshore exploratory drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean but obtaining this data in situ is expensive and hazardous.

Satellite remote sensing was used to determine the baseline parameters using historical data and without needing to visit the exploratory locations.
