Construction activity near an existing river bridge in NSW, Australia was suspected of causing displacements while a counter argument said that the bridge displacements were occurring for years anyway prior to construction. It was impossible to tell with no recorded displacmeent data.
InSAR analysis was used to determine bridge displacements prior to and during the construction works. A combination of satellite remote sensing and civil engineering expertise to interpret the effect of construction activities enabled a reliable picture of displacements along the bridge over the full time period to be obtained.
